We began learning about bats this week. I love teaching about bats. Even though I think they are kind of gross, they truly are useful animals and I like to clear up the common myths about bats.
I have placed all of my bat freebies into one packet. Click on the picture below to head on over to Teachers Pay Teachers to download for FREE.
Here are some new items that we completed this year and I have included in the freebie above.
Before completing our writing above, I introduced Informative/Explanatory writing. (Common Core Standard W.2)
These go along with my "What is Narrative Writing?" posters that you can find HERE.
You can download the Informative Writing Posters for FREE at Teachers Pay Teachers by clicking HERE.

Thanks so much, Jodi!!! I must say I'm not so much in love with bats after we had more than 40 living in our fascia after getting a new roof. There were FOUR bats flying INSIDE our house at the SAME time. Two flew out (the adults) the open doors and the two babies didn't. One of them climbed through a tiny vent in the back of the stove and got petrified when I made brownies. The other one stuck around for a few nights...there's a whole story behind getting that one back outside.
ReplyDeleteHowever - I am sooo glad they love mosquitoes!!!

Thanks so much for your freebies ... the Informative Writing posters and Narrative Writing posters. What a great way to help kids learn/remember the difference.
ReplyDeleteMy only thought was this: On the 2nd page of your Informative pack (Informative writing is nonfiction.) there was one clip art that just jumped out at me--the Indian with the feather head dress. Having lived/worked on a Native American reservation for the last 20 years it just seems a bit too stereotypical.
It's your choice as to whether you change out the picture or not. But I thought you at least deserved another viewpoint.
Thanks so very much for providing these resources.
